HERD HEALTH

The herd health portion of the Total Beef Herd Health Program is an integral part of your overall herd plan and the person most qualified to direct this plan is your own herd health veterinarian. I will be glad to work with your veterinarian in any way possible to improve the overall health of your herd. One of the things we do is to set up a herd health calendar that is specific to your herd. The calendar gives you a template for your herd for the entire year. We look at your ideal calving time and build the calendar around this timeframe.

When we spend a day at your farm doing a herd consultation visit, it is ideal to have your herd health veterinarian there for at least part of that time. This lets us discuss any herd health concerns with you so we can work as a team to solve these problems. Your herd health veterinarian is always welcome to call or e-mail me with additional questions about your herd. I will not work with herds that do not have a herd health veterinarian and I will never assume that role in a consultation herd. It is always in your best interest to have your local, herd health veterinarian as the leader in area.
