The genetics of the bulls we have purchased from MBCC are right on the mark. The genetic factors we look for are calving ease, vigor when born,  good growth, and docile calves. We feel a good calf crop starts with a good bull and MBCC has been there to help us. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the MBCC team as we are always fine tuning our herd for the best end product.”

"I've never had any calves in the past this docile and grow like these. We have calves weighing 650# at weaning."

Derek Rump, Dillsboro, IN

I'm In the past we always ran Angus and Charolais bulls on our 115 commercial cows. A few years ago we ran two Angus and two Balancer bulls. We immediately saw a noticeable difference in the Balancer sired calves. They had a distinct look to them and we liked the way they responded to feed. We since have leaned into Balancer and now are running three Balancers and one Gelbvieh bull. In the past we always had a dozen calves that we would beat our chests and brag about due to the high weaning weights. What we did not brag about was the remaining 85% of our calf crop. They weren’t all bad, they were just all over the board on weaning weights. The real driving factor that brought us to change our bull line up was the uniformity and consistency in weaning weights with the Balancer sired calves. We don’t brag about 750 lb weaning weights on only a few calves these days. We now brag about all the 600 pound plus weaned calves the sale barn is able to group together in order to fetch the top dollar of the day.“

The 8 heifers are beauties and have far exceeded my expectations in calving ease and mothering ability.  So far I've hardly been able to catch one calving yet, I just find them nursing and spry. Thanks again for the contact. Those guys have been great to work with.”

Note: Justin called to ask if I had bred females for sale and I did not have the quality and quantity he desired. I referred him to Trent Steinke and Tom Brooks who had bred heifers for sale and all were out of MBCC genetics.

I purchased my first bull from MBCC in 2009. I have bought a bull every year and am very pleased with the quality, performance , and the dispositions of the bulls. They met all specifications. I will continue to buy bulls from Midwest Beef Cattle Consultants.

The 90D Balancer bull I bought in the spring of 2017 bred 20/20 cows and heifers in my 45 day spring breeding season and 16/16 cows and heifers in the 45 day fall breeding season. I have had 7 calves in the last 10 days. The calves are healthy and energetic. Thanks for the quality bull. I am very pleased with the bull and look forward to buying more bulls from you in the future.

This year's calving season was one of our easiest and most uneventful! We purchased our first Balancer bull for its calving ease and calf vigor. He was everything that he was advertised to be. Our calving season was worry free, even for our first time heifers. We are very pleased with the growth of the calves, as well. This bull was a great investment!

I'm on my 4th bull from MBCC. I bought one sight unseen and he was just as good as those I came and picked out myself. The Balancers work great on my SimAngus cows to add hybrid vigor to my calves.

Getting a bull from Midwest Beef is the best thing I have ever done to improve my herd. This year I had 21 calves in 30 days and two a few weeks later for 23 total.  Thanks for raising excellent bulls.

I’m too old to buy the wrong bull! That yearling bull that you just bought will be a six year old before you have enough daughters in production to know what you really have; you will know calving ease and growth sooner but to really know what you have takes years.

I used an Angus bull whose calves had a lot of grow, but he left with the hardest keeping, starve to death in the winter and not breed back in the summer cows you’ve ever seen. I used a Gelbvieh bull that I bought from another breeder; love everything about his calves except about one out of ten of his daughters, as 2 year olds, have the biggest front teats I’ve ever seen. It will take years to get those genetics out of my herd.

When I went to Indiana the first time, I didn’t go to buy a bull but to access a breeding program that for 30 years had practiced the philosophy of “Your cows are supposed to work for you, not the other way around”. That’s what I’ve found; sound useful cattle, no hype or promotion. Mark Hilton, Tom Brooks, and their team are good people with whom to do business. I’ve purchased 7 bulls in 4 years and I plan on being in Indiana again in March 2018.

We have purchased four bulls from MBCC over the past several years.  All have been sires that have improved our genetics, had calves that were healthy and gained weight quickly and looked great. We had one of the four that had a disposition problem and we found out that Dr. Hilton’s guarantee was as good as he said it was.  We took him to the sale barn and Dr. Hilton refunded the difference of our purchase price and what we received from the sale, it is great to know that this guaranteed is as good as it sounds.

Our farm has been working with Dr. Hilton and MBCC for nearly 30 years.  I can honestly say you will never find someone more passionate and willing to help you succeed in your beef cattle operation.   The quality of the bulls he offers for sale and is simply tremendous.   The attention he places on genetics, health, and correctness with his breeding program has resulted  in significant improvement to our beef operation.

We have been buying bulls from MW Beef for over 10 years. The quality and guarantee on their bulls are unmatched. The friendship and relationship that has developed during this time is a bonus to the positive results we see in our genetics that translate to increased profitability for our operation.

In the spring of 2019 we purchased our fist Balancer bull and several Balancer cows not fully knowing what to expect, but hoping to solve some serious issues in our herd that was mostly Angus. For years we had struggled with infertility, calf mortality, and calving issues. It had become a sad “normal” for us. It was expensive, and certainly not any fun! Moving into spring of 2020, we were very apprehensive and nervous as calving season approached.

Then something wonderful started to happen! We would go to feed and there would be new babies!!! Cleaned, nursing and full of vigor!! They were nice sized calves, super lively, and so smart!! We were amazed at what we were seeing! This was actually enjoyable. We were having fun with our cattle. They were working for us for once, and being profitable.

As with typical Indiana weather, it rains every other day and the temperatures can swing 30-50 degrees in either direction at the drop of a hat. In the past we would have to put our calves in or they just wilted in these kinds of weather extremes. Not the Balancer babies!! They roll right on out in the pasture and never miss a lick.

We’ve not seen the first one of these calves being born, and we check on them twice a day. They can be fresh, but are already up and nursing with no problems! They are very quick on their feet even at a couple hours old. Super friendly, full of life, and wow do they grow quickly!

We are certain we made a sound decision buying a Balancer bull for our herd. Our son has a much better start to his herd than I ever could have dreamed. They indeed live up to their reputation.

-MBCC

As a young family starting our cattle program, MBCC has really helped us make tremendous progress with both their advice and high quality genetics. We have been more than pleased with the consistent quality, condition, and temperament of our bulls over the years. The MBCC crew is always willing to go the extra mile for me with years of knowledge in the beef industry. This past year we have really backed up MBCC’s words with having zero birthing difficulties . These calves simply “Do it on their own” with almost zero extra labor on my part and that is a big deal in my book.
